QHSE & Social Responsibility
ASTALDI Construction Corporation (ACC) Florida, USA recognizes that in today’s competitive marketplace, effective Quality, Health & Safety and Environment (QHSE) systems are essential when providing quality cost effective services to our clients. As General Contractor, ACC is totally committed to providing construction services that fully comply with the specifications and quality requirements defined by the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) for all projects throughout United States.
More than ever, the construction sector must deal with quality, health and safety, social and environmental challenges. We have chosen to rise to these challenges on a daily basis at every stage of our projects. Therefore, the QHSE Systems as an Integrated Management System implementation in all our construction sites is the heart of our strategy.
On the global level, this is why we have made the strategic choice of making this commitment a top priority for our company and among our employees. Thus, through the QHSE Management System ISO 9001 certification, we have launched a QHSE Policy shared by all our business units supported by corporate top management. In order to take all aspects of QHSE development into account and influence all our partners and clients, we focus in 5 key areas:
In total, these strategic key areas include the following commitments: innovating for sustainable construction, committing to ethics and compliance, contributing to local development and ensuring equal opportunities. In practical terms, this policy is translated into actions carried out by all of our activities and in all of our projects, from the design stage through to operation.
Anchored in our corporate culture, our Health & Safety Policy has a target of “Zero Accidents”. This is achieved through various preventive actions, which is the best way of limiting high-risk behavior, through training and making our employees aware of their own responsibility. This is also demonstrated through various actions: training and accountability of our employees, talks and presentations on new equipment on the sites, controlling the efficiency of actions via health & safety risk assessment system. The indicators development and the frequency rate is measured over time and reported twice a year in the Extra-Financial Report within our QHSE System.
Environmental Management initiatives are voluntary measures developed by ACC to conserve natural resources and help achieve environmental awareness in ecological sensitive areas such as the State of Florida. This is done mainly through the Spill Prevention and Countermeasure Plan implemented by ACC during the construction phases to prevent petroleum products, non-hazardous materials and hazardous/toxic materials discharges to the environment from occurring and to prepare ACC to respond in a safe, effective and timely manner to mitigate the impacts should a discharge occur, particularly so that it does not reach the navigable waters or adjoining shorelines of the United States.
As an international General Contractor, we take special care to support the local community where we are present. This commitment is realized through the creation of jobs, but also through community development.
Our construction and operational activities inject life into the local communities. In the areas we develop projects, we create direct or indirect jobs and transfer a great deal of know-how. In United States and worldwide, we apply the “integration through training” process.
By this method, we completed professional training programs to obtain professional qualification. The aim of this program is to provide our employees with a work experience context on the sites, practical tools and to promote the implementation of Astaldi business ethics values worldwide.
Regardless of their profession within the company, every one of our employees is a key link in our local engagement and solidarity development process. Everyone through their behavior takes action on a daily basis to comply with our commitments. Finally, as a vector of innovation, it creates value for our clients, who can thereby benefit from a vision of construction that today meets the challenges of tomorrow.
